Are You Making A Move Before Christmas?

Posted on

Did you ever think in your wildest dreams that you would have to move from one house to another one right before Christmas,  one of the busiest times of the year? Perhaps you were selling the house you are presently living in much earlier than you expected to. Or, it may be that you received a transfer that involves a business move. For whatever reason you are moving before Christmas, from organizing your belongings to arranging for a moving company to make the move, here are some ideas that might help you:

Enlist The Help Of Friends And Family Members - Remember the words to a popular song, That's what friends are for. Well, those words might apply to your moving situation right now. Wouldn't you help your friends or your family members if they were having to move in a hurry? Well, you can probably count on the same kind gesture that you would extend to them.

If people ask if they can help, think of simply accepting the offer. For example, if you have little children, it might be helpful for them to spend time with friends while you organize your house in preparation for the moving company to arrive. Also, consider the offer of meals so you won't be distracted by having to prepare food for your family while you're wanting to focus on getting your belongings ready.

Communicate With The Moving Company - Remember to declutter your house before the packers show up. Since you'll probably be wanting to set up living quarters, be sure to set aside things like bed linens and towels. Also, be sure that your Christmas decorations are in well-marked boxes so that you can get to them easily.

Don't worry about your belongings being damaged. The packers and the movers have had great training in how to handle your belongings with kid gloves. Be sure to point out things that need special attention. For example, if you have a grandfather's clock that has a special place in your heart, point that out. The clock will more than likely be wrapped and crated so that it will make the move safely.

Don't forget to let the post office know that you will have a different address so that your mail can be forwarded to your new address. After all, you are probably anticipating the arrival of Christmas cards and Christmas presents. Check out a website like for more information and assistance.
